3 Essential Oils To Help With Your Headaches

by Ellie Mitchelle

If you are prone to headaches or migraines, you may sometimes feel at a loss as far as what to do to treat and deal with those headaches. After all, there are only so many pain reliever medications that you can take to help with your pain. What you may not have thought of before is that essential oils can help to soothe your chronic headaches and provide you with some much-needed relief to your aches and pains. Get to know some of the essential oils that can help you with your headaches. Then, you can give them a try right away to hopefully get rid of those headaches quickly and effectively.

Myrrh Oil

Myrrh essential oil has been around for centuries. This substance has long been used medicinally and even in religious practices because of its many beneficial properties. One of the biggest benefits of myrrh oil is that it has pain relieving properties.

There are compounds inside of the myrrh that interact with certain receptors inside of the brain that are responsible for experiences of pain. Essentially, myrrh tells the body it is not in pain by interacting with these pain receptors. This, in turn, can reduce the intensity of a headache or help get rid of it altogether.

Lavender Oil

Lavender is another wonder plant that has so many benefits, it would be difficult to list them all. One of the biggest benefits of lavender is its ability to soothe and relax a person. Headaches are often the result of stress or tension in the body and head. And having a headache just serves to make a person more tense and stressed, creating a vicious cycle.

Lavender oil can help break that cycle by enhancing calm and reducing tension. You can diffuse lavender oil into a room, put it in your bath, or apply it directly to your temples to get this calming effect started. Very soon after doing so, you should notice some relief to your headache as well as the associated tension.

Peppermint Oil

If you are not a fan of the scent of lavender or you find that it does not relieve your worst headaches, you may want to try peppermint oil. Peppermint oil contains menthol. Menthol is sometimes used to treat migraine headaches. All you would need to do is rub a few drops of peppermint oil into your temples to feel the pain-reducing effects of this popular essential oil.

With these essential oil options, you can get the headache relief that you so desperately need and start to feel better as soon as possible. Contact a business like Ancient Essence Inc to learn more.

About Me

Skipping the Chemicals

I have always struggled with allergies, and it has been a huge challenge in my life. When I was a baby, I was allergic to milk and grains, which made it hard for my parents to give me the nutrition that I needed. As an adult, I have also been diagnosed with allergies to several medications, which has made it hard to get medical care. Fortunately, a few years ago I found an alternative solution to my woes. My friend recommended a natural health care clinic, and I was able to use it to avoid common medications that I was allergic to. This blog is all about the benefits of skipping the chemicals and using natural health care remedies.
