3 Natural Options for Reducing Anxiety Symptoms

by Ellie Mitchelle

While surprising to hear, there are over 100 physical symptoms of anxiety. From dizziness and chest pains to gastrointestinal issues and insomnia, these symptoms are difficult for many. Not only will these physical symptoms cause you to experience more stress, but they can also lead to more serious health problems. Fortunately, relieving your anxiety quickly is possible without the use of prescription medications. Using these natural options, you can reduce the emotional and physical symptoms of your anxiety.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy uses water, in varying forms, to ease tension and pain in the body. This holistic treatment improves the body's circulation of blood, reducing physical discomfort and emotional stress. There are many forms of hydrotherapy available to treat anxiety, including the following:

  • shower
  • bath
  • soaking in a hot tub
  • swimming
  • using an ice pack
  • warm compress
  • sauna

Meditation

Meditation is an effective option for reducing the physical symptoms of anxiety, but it may also treat the actual emotional issues you are feeling due to the anxiety. You may not be familiar with this Buddhist tradition, so here are some guidelines.

Using a simple approach to meditate is smart if you are beginner. To get started, sit or lie down in a quiet space. Make yourself physically comfortable. With your eyes closed, focus on your natural breathing.

Do not attempt to change or count your breathing pattern, but pay attention to the way your body moves with each breath. Focus on how your chest cavity, shoulders, and stomach rise and fall with each breath.

Continue breathing for a period of time. If your mind wonders or you come out of your peaceful, meditative state, return back to your natural breathing pattern.

This type of meditation is a smart option for beginners, but other forms of this practice are also effective for relieving anxiety, including concentration meditation, which can incorporate the speaking of a "mantra" during the breathing exercises. If you want more help with meditation, learn to meditate in Los Angeles, CA, or your local area by taking a class.

Exercise

Exercise is not only good for your health, but it can also decrease the physical and emotional issues associated with your anxiety. While exercising, your brain releases natural endorphins, instantly improving your mood. These endorphins will relax your mind, easing the physical symptoms of your anxiety.

Consider walking or jogging each day. Yoga, dance, and even playing a favorite sport are all great options for a healthy body and mind.

If you are experiencing anxiety or severe stress, consult your doctor before beginning any of these treatments. Then, you can use one of these natural options to reduce the symptoms of your anxiety.

About Me

Skipping the Chemicals

I have always struggled with allergies, and it has been a huge challenge in my life. When I was a baby, I was allergic to milk and grains, which made it hard for my parents to give me the nutrition that I needed. As an adult, I have also been diagnosed with allergies to several medications, which has made it hard to get medical care. Fortunately, a few years ago I found an alternative solution to my woes. My friend recommended a natural health care clinic, and I was able to use it to avoid common medications that I was allergic to. This blog is all about the benefits of skipping the chemicals and using natural health care remedies.
